Avocado benefits

SweatTheStyle_Avocado The avocado is known as the alligator fruit, reflecting its shape and texture – cut it open and it looks like an alligator eye too! Avocados boost the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins A, D, E, K as well as certain carotenoids like lycopene and beta-carotene. Add them to a salad for bonus nutrient points. The avocado itself is a great source of lutein, a carotenoid that works as an antioxidant to help protect against eye disease. They often get a bad rap for being too fatty. Not so! The fats in avocados, notably monounsaturated fats, are heart-friendly as they lower the risk of heart disease by reducing lousy cholesterol and regulating blood pressure. By eating just two avocados a week you can improve your skin’s elasticity, boost moisture and may even reduce wrinkles. Just ½ an avocado provides 3.4 g of fiber – this includes both soluble and insoluble fiber which keeps your digestive system running smoothly and you feeling fuller longer.

Neal’s Yard Argan Oil

AdrianneHo_YouDontKnow_4 You don’t know how good oils can be for your hair, skin, and nails until you try them.

SweatTheStyle_NealsYard_ArganOil This multi-purpose, intensely nourishing 100% organic Argan Oil from Neal’s Yard Remedies is a prime example. Argan oil is rich in fatty acids (over 80%) which makes it incredibly nourishing for your skin, hair and nails. It’s also very high in the antioxidant vitamin E which is used to prevent scarring. It deeply moisturizes and soothes the skin, nails and hair, while helping to prevent premature ageing caused by free radicals. It works with all skin types as well. To use just rub a few drops of the oil in your hands, then massage onto damp skin, nails, and cuticles. For hair, simply smooth a small amount to the ends of freshly washed hair to reduce frizz or use as a pre-shampoo conditioner by rubbing it into the dry ends of hair and leaving it in for a few hours. It will leave hair silky and smooth.

Pink Grapefruit

SweatTheStyle_Grapefruit Grapefruits reach their peak during the coldest months of the year which is good because that’s when you’re most likely to need them the most. Grapefruits are extremely high in vitamin C, half of a grapefruit provides about 78 percent of your recommended daily intake. Besides strengthening your immune system they also contribute to weight lose because their high fiber and water content keep you full and hydrated longer. When you can, opt for pink or red grapefruits because they contain the antioxidant lycopene which has properties that help fight cancer causing free radicals. Eat the grapefruits freshly peeled on their own or mix into a salad.
