Organic White Peaches

AdrianneHo_WhitePeachNewBalance-4Sink your teeth into something sweet….
SweatTheStyle_WhitePeachThe white peach is in season now and one of the sweetest of them all. The white color of the flesh means that it contains more natural sugar than the deeper colored yellow peaches which are more acidic. Rich in vitamin A and C, peaches lead to the healthy production and regeneration of skin cells as well as being a great detoxifier for the kidneys and bladder. If they give in a little after a firm but gentle squeeze and have a slight wrinkle to the skin then they are ripe and ready to eat! Keep a look out next time you’re at the market, you won’t be disappointed!

SweatTheStyle_Banana Bananas are packed with the nutrients that are especially important for fueling an active lifestyle. Potassium plays a major role in muscle function, having enough potassium in your diet can help prevent and stop muscle cramps. Magnesium allows your body to better access energy from the food you eat while also speeding up the body’s healing process. The best time to eat a banana to benefit your workout is at least an hour before or right after.

Guava

SweatTheStyle_Guava Guavas are a tropical powerhouse of antioxidants. They’re a remarkable source of Vitamin C, a whopping 600% of your recommended daily intake. Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin and antioxidant that protects our cells from radical damage via internal and external stressors like emotional stress, strenuous workouts, pollution, and chemicals in our food & beauty products. It strengthens our body’s ability to fight infection and thus, shortens the duration of illness like the common cold and flu. Vitamin C is also needed for healthy collagen building so I consider it a true beauty food that’s great for the skin.

Be sure to eat guava with its skin on as most of the nutrients are in the peel. Enjoy them as a snack or throw into a salad for a touch of sweetness. Of course, eat guavas in moderation. They should be considered a treat since they are high in fructose and not a local food for those living in cooler climates.

Orange

SweatTheStyle_Orange_FoodOranges aren’t only fresh, juicy, and tasty but they’re also extremely good for you! One orange contains 116.2% of the daily value of vitamin C and although they’re acidic they contain many alkaline minerals that balance out the body. Their orange colour indicates that they’re also high in Vitamin A which means that they keep your eyes healthy and strong. They’re also full of beta-carotene which is a powerful antioxidant that protects cells from damage and prevents the signs of aging.

GREEN APPLES

SWEATTHESTYLE_GREENAPPLE1You can’t beat whole fruits and vegetables when it comes to making healthy choices in your diet. Green apples are high in fiber, antioxidants, and vitamins. Because they have a higher acid content than other apples, they take longer to go brown once you cut into them. So they make a simple easy snack to pack on the go or to add to any salad, or in a juice.

Eating Granny Smith apples also keeps your mouth clean. The higher acid in these apples aid in producing more salivation than a sweeter type of apple. High levels of saliva decrease bacteria in your mouth that attack teeth and cause cavities and bad breath.

There’s a reason why they say eat an apple a day!
